"When I was in 9th grade, my band teacher constantly encouraged me to take lessons so I would become a better clarinetist. The summer following my freshman year, my dad discovered Laura Sabo and signed me up to take lessons with her. I ended up taking lessons from her all the way through my high school career! I know that I definitely became a better player through the challenges she presented and the constant encouragement and advice she gave to me. She helped me through the auditioning processes of Allstate band, Select band, Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble, and Blue Ash Youth Symphony Orchestra. Without her, I wouldn’t have been accepted into all of these bands! I highly recommend taking lessons from Laura. You will become a better player and you will get to enjoy playing in a variety of ensembles because of your good playing, just like I did! Don’t pass up the opportunity!"
Berea College Class of 2016
Students and Teaching
Laura has enjoyed teaching in the Cincinnati area for the past ten years. Her students have been chosen to participate in All State bands and orchestras, the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble. Some have gone on to pursue degrees in music at the College Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati, and Berea College in Kentucky.
Laura teaches all levels of students, from beginners to high school students preparing for solo and ensemble contest, to adults wishing to continue their musical experience. Teaching is one of her great joys in life.
The private lesson experience can be invaluable to students who are struggling to keep up with band music, and it can also provide more advanced students with fresh and exciting challenges. Private lessons allow each student to receive a personalized curriculum tailored to fit their ambition, learning style, and ability.
Laura currently teaches in several locations around the greater Cincinnati area. Please contact her for rates and locations. She teaches both clarinet and saxophone.
